HDMI Type A is the standard full-size connector defined in the HDMI specification. It carries TMDS (Transition Minimized Differential Signaling) data on three differential pairs plus a clock pair, enabling transmission of uncompressed digital video and audio. The CEC bus allows one-button control across devices. HDMI 2.1 adds TMDS replacement with FRL (Fixed Rate Link) for bandwidth up to 48 Gbps.
